The beach Tripiti is located 7km south of Karave, the southernmost point of Gavdos and Europe. The eastern part of the beach has sand, while the west has large stones. The southern beach of Europe is very nice and is formed on the exit of a dried torrent with large sand dunes. Close to the exit of the torrent, you'll see a dried salt pan, which forms a small lagoon during the winter. This lagoon hosts hundreds of migratory birds, during their journey from Europe to Africa (and vice versa). Tripiti can only be accessed on foot (if you don’t have boat of course) from Korfos. The distance is 3-4km and walking takes approximately one hour. Of course, there is nothing touristic in close proximity, thus you have to carry everything with you.
